What to do when being bullied

Stay calm: Don't react in anger, as bullies often want a reaction.

Don't fight back: Hitting or kicking back can make things worse and lead to someone getting hurt.

Tell the bully to stop: Use a loud and confident voice to say "Stop!".

Walk away: Leave the situation immediately after telling the bully to stop or if you feel unsafe.

Find a buddy: Stick with a friend in places where the bullying usually happens, like on the bus or at lunch.

Tell a trusted adult: Talk to a parent, teacher, or another adult you trust about what is happening.

Don't suffer in silence: Bullying is not okay, and you don't have to deal with it alone.

What to do if you are cyberbullied

Do not respond: Don't get into an argument or respond in anger.

Save the evidence: Take screenshots of the messages, posts, or images.

Block or mute the person: Use the platform's tools to block or mute them.

Report the behaviour: Report the user to the social media site or app.

Tell an adult: Let a parent or teacher know what is happening.

What to do if you have bullied someone

Apologise: Say sorry to the person you hurt to help everyone feel better.

Talk to an adult: If you're having trouble being nice to others, talk to an adult you trust about it.

Remember everyone is different: It's okay for people to be different from each other.
